Heartbreaking news this morning as it was revealed that the TV anchor and war correspondent Najwa Kassem had passed away in her apartment in Dubai. The cause of death was preliminarily said to be a heart attack, but no official report has been released.
The 51 year old journalist started her career with NewTV before becoming a central presenter in Future TV, then moving to Al Arabiya in 2004.
In addition to presenting news and programs, Kassem was considered to be one of the first Arab female journalists to actively cover war. Kassem had previously survived an explosion at the Al Arabiya offices in Iraq in 2004.
May her soul rest in peace.
