RIP Rajaa Al Jeddawi, Iconic Egyptian Actress Dies From Coronavirus Complications

Iconic Egyptian actress Rajaa Al-Jeddawi sadly passed away on Sunday due to coronavirus complications after struggling with the disease for 43 days.


Najat was born on September 6, 1938, in Ismailia and is the niece of well-known artist, Taheyya Kariokka.



In her early years, she worked in the translation department at an advertising company and was chosen to be a model after she won the title of Miss Egyptian Cotton in 1958. She then went on to become one of the most famous Egyptian models before she kicked off her acting career.



Al Jeddawi first appeared in the movie “Ghariba” in 1958, after which she continued her artistic contributions for more than 60 years in cinema, television, and theater.



Al Jeddawi presented 369 artworks, and her last appearance was in “The Game of Forgetting”, which aired during Ramadan 2020.




Al Jeddawi left a huge mark in the Arab world. May her soul rest in peace.
