Meet The Egyptian Firefighter Who Risked His Life In The Australia Fires

With the beginning of the new year, the Australian fires made international headlines, sparking panic across the globe as they swept the country, destroying everything in their way.

But it was thanks to brave people like Yehia Abdelaaty that the fires died down and spared what little was left in Australia.

Yehia Abdelaaty is an Egyptian man who has been serving as a dedicated firefighter in New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, for the past 17 years.

Despite his wife’s objection to his postion, Abdelaaty insists that he is “ready mentally and physically” for the job.

“I am not less than any Australian working in the field. If they can do it, I can,” he told BBC News.
