Cairo is known for its endless traffic and congestion, so we’re always glad to hear when the government is working on finding solutions. Recently, an all-new automated monorail system was announced to be built in Egypt, so we rounded up everything you should know about this new transportation: 1. The monorail can carry up to 1,000,000 travelers every day, and it costs less than the metro. 2. The first line will run 54 kilometers from east Cairo to the new administrative capital being built in the desert. 3. The second line, which will run for 42 kilometers, will connect 6th October City to Giza. 4. The first monorail line will be up and running by the end of 2020. 5. The monorail lines will be first mass transit links to connect Greater Cairo with New Capital City and 6 October City and will greatly improve mobility for Egyptian citizens.
