Schedules are updated every Thursday.
We’re taking you on a tour of three fantastic historical spots you can visit on the first line of Cairo’s metro!
Three stations (Mar Girgis, Al Malek Al Saleh, and Sadat Stations) will lead us to a world of wonder!
We start off by getting off the St George (or Mar Girgis) line where you’ll see the amazing Hanging Church. The Hanging Church is named for its location above a gatehouse of Babylon Fortress, the Roman fortress in Coptic Cairo (Old Cairo); its nave is suspended over a passage.
All these places can be visited for free! And the Coptic museum has a very small entrance fee.
After that, you arrive at the mosque of Amr bin Al-As, reportedly the second mosque ever built in Egypt.
Our trip on St. George (Mar Girgis) station is over. Next up, we have El-Malek El-Saleh Station.
Here you’ll head to The Saladin Citadel of Cairo via microbus. Pay for a ticket and start the tour!
Thus concludes our trip on this line, on to Sadat Station, which will lead you to our next stop.
The last stop on your list will be the Egyptian Museum that you can reach easily on this line.
Take in the amazing architecture, and then venture inside! Here you’ll find ancient Egyptian artifacts as well as Greek mementos.
Thus concludes our trips for today, in hopes of amazing ones in future blogs!
