The Egyptian dialect of Arabic has some hilariously unique and expressive phrases. In honor of Arabic Language Day<\/strong>, which is celebrated every year on December 18th, we\u2019re going to list yu some of the most interesting (and hilarious) phrases in Egyptian Arabic.<\/p>

Do you know the words that Egyptians use when they\u2019re in a fight or when they flirt? <\/p>

<\/p>

Here are some hilarious fighting phrases:<\/strong><\/p>

\"\"<\/figure>

<\/p>

1.<\/strong> Ya el-dal3adi<\/a><\/strong>: used to insult the person in front of you, meaning that the person in front of them is their enemy.<\/p>

<\/p>

<\/p>

2. Afrosh el-mlaya<\/strong>: usually used by Egyptian women, meaning she was ready to fight. It refers to the black abaya women wore mid-20th<\/sup> century that was taken off and sit on it if she wanted to fight. <\/p>

<\/p>

<\/p>

<\/p>

3. Shoubash<\/a><\/strong>: refers to the statues placed on the graves of the deceased that are believed to be reciting prayers. Nowadays it means \u201crepeat after me and mark my words\u201d.<\/p>

<\/p>

4. Rajol mka7ka7<\/a><\/strong>: someone that has become old, useless, or of little value<\/p>

<\/p>

5. Ya 3ara<\/strong>: a bad person with poor morals and everyone must be ashamed of them<\/p>

<\/p>

6. Zeeta w zambleeta<\/strong>: screaming and noise<\/p>

<\/p>

7. Marmata<\/a><\/strong>: used to threaten someone, meaning you will cause them a lot of pain and humiliation. It is of Pharaonic origin. <\/p>

<\/p>

8.<\/strong> Shalaq<\/strong>: refers to women who frequently fight loudly and use swear words<\/p>

<\/p>

9. Ent bi2a awy<\/a><\/strong>: describes a person who uses vulgar language, a lot of swear words, and doesn\u2019t know how to behave properly in public<\/p>

<\/p>

10. Flan da sharabo kharj<\/a><\/strong>: the person is useless, neither \u201cloose nor tied\u201d. People also say kheekha<\/em>.<\/p>

<\/p>

11. Albes 3ashan kharjeen<\/strong>: \u201cwe are in a crisis\u201d. People also say nalbos fi el-7eet<\/em>.<\/p>

<\/p>

12.<\/strong> Al-shakrmoon taakh fi el-trarlolli<\/strong>; refers to a big failure or horrible situation. The phrase was inspired by Mahmoud Abdel Aziz in his movie \u201cAl-Kayf\u201d.<\/p>

5. Ahlan yalooloo<\/a><\/strong>: used to welcome a beautiful girl<\/p>

<\/p>

6. Mabroom 3ala mabroom ma yrolesh<\/a><\/strong>: used to compliment someone\u2019s intelligence, meaning they cannot be deceived easily<\/p>

<\/p>

7. Kalam 3enab<\/strong>: used when what someone said was convincing and on point<\/p>

<\/p>

8. Fein el-shay<\/a><\/strong>: used to request for a tip <\/p>

<\/p>

9. Kol sana wa ent tayeb ya sa3adat al-basha<\/strong>: another way to ask for a tip, disguised as an innocent greeting<\/p>

<\/p>

10. Shoubesh<\/a><\/strong>: used to wish for happiness, especially to newlyweds or when there is a newborn baby<\/p>
