Foul Or Croissant? Your Ultimate Breakfast Guide In Alexandria

Breakfast options in Alexandria are endless. From foul and falafel to croissant and omelettes, here is your guide to the best breakfast spots in the city.

Foul Mohamed Ahmed

When you’re craving traditional Egyptian breakfast, Foul Mohamed Ahmed delivers exactly that. The two-floor restaurant has been in business since 1957 and has fed a number of celebrities including Najib Mahfouz and Fouad Al Mohandes. The famous spot serves delectable foul paired with delicious fried eggplants, and we recommend you try their flavored cheeses.

Trianon

If you’re looking for a change of taste from foul and falafel, we suggest you head to Trianon, located in one of Alexandria’s ancient buildings in Saad Zaghloul Square. Here you can indulge in a selection of croissant, pancakes and egg omelettes, or opt for their famous all-in-one continental breakfast, made of eggs, toast, butter and jam. Make sure you ask about their specialty chocolate before you leave.

Imperial Cafe and Restaurant

Facing Trianon on the other side of the road is Imperial Cafe and Restaurant. One of the oldest spots in Alexandria, Imperial serves an open breakfast buffet from 8 AM till 12 PM Saturdays through Thursdays and from 9 AM to 2 PM on Fridays. Eat all you can with a breakfast feast of foul, falafel, eggs, cheeses, and cornflakes, and satisfy your sweet tooth with cupcakes, English cake, donuts and omm ali.

Taverna

Because breakfast is always best served by the sea, we recommend Taverna. Enjoy a traditional breakfast spread of foul and falafel or opt for different alternatives like crepes and club sandwiches. You can even indulge in cakes, juices and milkshakes for the ultimate morning treat.
