Shakwetek: New Platform For Domestic Violence Reports

If you or anyone you know is a victim of domestic violence, this is your way out. ‘Shakwetek‘ is a new platform launched by the National Council for Women (NCW) in collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Information. The app enables women to discretely report abuse at home with the click of a button, to avoid the risk of filing a report in-person. Through Shakwetek, women can reach out to authorities by sending a simple WhatsApp message to 55555875601 or an email to shakwtek@smoinfo.gov.eg. Upon receiving the reports, the app will process them confidentially. Women have been increasingly subjected to domestic violence throughout lockdown, with nowhere to run to.
