A Cairo Summer Guide For The Non-Travelers This Season

If you’re one of the unlucky few who won’t get the chance to jet off to a tropical beach destination this summer, don’t fret just yet. Here are some ideas to make your season much more fun:

1. All-day felucca ride

Change things up, and instead of hanging out in a pricey cafe/restaurant overlooking the Nile river, get a felucca and spend the day with your friends or family. Get your own food, snacks, and drinks, prepare a playlist, and enjoy the sunset in the Nile!

2. Wadi Degla Protectorate

Escape the city noise and head to one of the quietest spots in the city, Wadi Degla Protectorate. If you’re in the mood for a hike, biking, or climbing, this spot is for you. The spot is also popular for hosting barbecue events, so if chilling is your thing, then bring your speakers and off you go. In other words, the protectorate is the closest you can get to camping without traveling.

3. Travel back in time

Traveling back in time is still traveling, right? If for whatever reason you can’t make it to the beach this summer, why don’t use that time to do some exploring? Take a stroll in Moez Street, where you can actually get inside the historic buildings rather than sitting at a cafe. There are too many museums and palaces to mention in one paragraph. Entrance fees are really low for Egyptians as well. Convince your friends, plan it out, and spend the entire weekend roaming!

4. Parks

Cairo is actually full of parks, old and new. Among the iconic ones that have been revived is the Aquarium Grotto Garden, aka the Fish Garden, which has recently been the host for many fun events, including organized bazaars, flea markets, and even concerts. Among the relatively new parks in Egypt is Family Park, which also hosts many events and is open to families.

5. Snow

Basically, there are two places in Cairo where you can enjoy a fun day in the snow. The first one is Ski Egypt, located at Mall of Egypt, where you can ski and play all sorts of activities with your friends and family. The other and newest snow place is Snow City at City Stars Mall, which is built and equipped with international standards. Check them out!
